Sioux Rapids Tall Corn Days will be held Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31.
Plans are now being made for City Wide Garage Sales on Friday and Saturday. You can register for a garage sale by calling City Hall, 283-2737 or the Bulletin Press, 283-2500 or 283-2045. Maps will be made available at selected businesses in Sioux Rapids.
A Tall Corn Contest will again be held on Friday morning. All stalks can be taken to Don's Barber Shop for judging. Prizes will be given.
On Friday night, the Sweet Corn feed will take place at the American Legion Community Center beginning at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. As in the past, this is the best sweet corn around. The American Legion, Marc Bertness and the Sioux Rapids Chamber of Commerce are scheduling the event.
The Sesquicentennial Clock raffle will culminate at 6:30 p.m. during the Sweet Corn Feed. Get your chance to win this beautiful clock.
At 7 p.m., a Style Show is being hosted by the Sioux Rapids Area Historical Association at the Historical theater. Clothing from the past to the present will be modeled by local residents. A free will offering is being taken by the S.R.A.H.A., with proceeds given to the Sesquicentennial planning fund.
On Saturday morning the annual Tall Corn Days parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Registration for participants can be made to Oscar Sundblad.
After the parade, a meal that includes turkey fillets, beans and bars will be served at the American Legion Community Center by the Masons. The yearly meal provides scholarships to graduates.
Saturday night you can dance to the Senders at the American Legion Community Center hosted by the American Legion from 8-12 midnight.
If you're warm after all that dancing, you can take in a Midnight Swim at the Sioux Rapids Swimming Pool.
New this year is the first Annual Flea Market to be held at City Park in Sioux Rapids. Admission is free, but cost is $25 per space for those who would like to show their wares. Call City Hall to reserve a space.
