SL woman arrested on shoplifting and assault charges

Melinda Solis, 28, of Storm Lake, was arrested by Storm Lake Police shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Wal-Mart on North Lake Avenue.

Police determined Solis had attempted to steal some merchandise from the store and when Wal-Mart Loss Prevention personnel attempted to apprehend her, she physically assaulted two employees and attempted to flee on foot across the parking lot. She was then apprehended with the assistance of an off duty Iowa State Trooper.

Solis was charged by Storm Lake Police with Robbery 2nd Degree, a class C felony, Assault While Participating in a Felony, a class D felony, Giving False Information to Law Enforcement and Theft 5th Degree, both simple misdemeanors.

She was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail where she was booked in on $23,500.00 cash bond.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.
