Funeral services for Darlene Iona Murken, age 79 of Boone, and the Evangelical Free Church Home of Boone since January 2004, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 3 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, N.E. Boone County, with Rev. Bruce Lakamp and Rev. Michael Harman officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, next to the church.
Darlene died on Wednesday, June 30 at the Evangelical Free Church Home.
Mrs. Murken was born on August 13, 1924, in Woodward, to Lester Lee and Flossie Iona (Bundy) Wisecup. She attended school in Boone County.
She married Herman Murken on December 10, 1945, in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parsonage in N.E. Boone County.
Darlene and her husband farmed in Harrison Township, Boone County until 1987 when they retired, then moved into Boone. She was also a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of N.E. Boone County. She especially enjoyed her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Duane; her granddaughter, Sarah Harman; her three brothers, Kenneth, Junior and Torrence; her two sisters, Peg Wisecup and Mary McCoy.
Mrs. Murken is survived by her husband, Herman Murken of Boone; daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Larry Meyers of Boone; son, Dwight (Dewey) Murken of Urbandale; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Rev. Michael Harman of Newell; daughter and son-in-law, Mari Lynn and John Cain of Boone; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ken Ely of Boone; daughter-in-law, Sharon Murken of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Dorothy Wisecup of Ogden; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Eugene Nystrom of Hanford, California; sister in law, Jolene Wisecup of Ogden; sister in law, Helen Wisecup of Boone; and many nieces and nephews
Memorials may be given to the St. Paul's Parish Hall Building Fund.

Services for Eleanor Nelson, formerly of Storm Lake, will be held July 15 at Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park Club House in Santee, California.
Eleanor passed away on Thursday, July 1.
She was born October 25, 1920, the daughter of Rev. Frank Albrecht. She graduated from Storm Lake. Eleanor is survived by one sister, Irene Albrecht of San Diego, California.

Funeral services for Hannah Mae Kruse, infant daughter of Ryan Kruse and Jessica Frederick of Storm Lake, were held Wednesday, July 7 at Zion Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Rev. Thomas Egger officiating. Burial was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Hannah was stillborn on July 3 Buena Vista Regional Hospital in Storm Lake.
Hannah is survived by her parents, Ryan and Jessica; grandparents, Randy and Julie Kruse of Storm Lake; grandfather, Terry Frederick of Storm Lake; great-grandparents, Don and Carol Kruse of Storm Lake; great-grandmother, Marvel Frederick of Okoboji; great-great-grandmother, Dora Kruse of Storm Lake; and aunts, uncles and cousins.
