Vagts named extension crop specialist in area

Todd Vagts, Manhattan, Kan., has been named new Iowa State University Extension crop specialist for northwest Iowa.

Vagts, most recently assistant scientist of agronomy, Kansas State University, began his new position Dec. 7. He is be based in the Carroll County Extension office and will serve Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Crawford, Ida, Monona, Pocahontas and Sac counties.

Vagts, with a diverse background in agricultural sciences and production, is a native of southeast Minnesota. He was previously regional agronomic services manager, Delta and Pine Land Co. working with field data analysis and interpretation, information and technology transfer, and crop production trends. The work involved cotton and soybean production systems serving six southwestern states.
