BV County gets grant to move its last ward of state
Also, the county board of supervisors recently discussed salary changes in the sheriff's office. Sheriff Chuck Eddy said a change in shift scheduling will take place on Jan. 1.
With that change Eddy requested that Deputies Doug Simons and Don McClure have an increase in salary from 80 percent of the sheriff's salary to 85 percent, based on an hourly rate. He asked the change be implemented July 1, 2001.
The board suggested spreading the change over two years and setting it at 82.5 percent the sheriff's salary.
Eddy also requested authorization to approve salary increases for staff members from a range based upon merit and evaluation. Eddy and McClure also proposed a new pay schedule for jailers.
