Alta Spanish students view Dali sculptures

Wednesday, December 27, 2000

The Alta High School Spanish III students recently finished studying a chapter about Spanish art, which dealt with famous artists, their works and how to interpret or analyze various pieces of art.

Students studied the techniques of Picasso, Dali, Botero, Rivera and others.

The students researched Salvador Dali on the Internet and visited several of his paintings on line and read about his life. As a culminating activity, the students visited the Sioux City Art Center to view 20 bronze sculptures of Dali. The sculptures were on loan to the art center from the Isidro Clot Collection in Barcelona, Spain. This is the first time that this exhibition has been displayed in the United States.
