BVU student from Storm Lake to study, tour in New York City

Wednesday, December 27, 2000

Kristen Doebel, Storm Lake, is one of 23 Buena Vista University students who will study and tour in New York City during January Interim 2001.

BVU's January Interim session takes place between the fall and spring semesters and is designed to provide a unique learning experience by allowing students to spend nearly four weeks studying a single topic of interest.

The students will spend eight days in New York City, the "Big Apple," experiencing nearly every aspect of its rich and varied culture. While in New York, they will see Broadway shows, tour NBC studios, Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Radio City Music Hall, the United Nations and take an all day tour of New York, including the Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center, Wall Street and Ellis Island. Students will also have time to shop and explore New York's attractions.

Dr. Edward Lanning, professor of music at BVU, will accompany the students to New York City. Doebel is the daughter of Tim Holden of Storm Lake and is a senior majoring in history at BVU.
