Team Alta decided to hold the first annual Community-Wide Picnic, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 20-21. This event is planned to be a very nice ending to summer and will be held the weekend before school starts.
The events will be held at the Buena Vista County Fairgrounds. Some of the activities planned are a flea market, arts and crafts show, many food vendors, pet show, games and activities for both children and adults, a number of contests including, "The Best Tasting Pie" and a barbecue, karaoke, a charity auction and a cash raffle.
The money raised will be used to help fund the new main street LED sign which may also be used to update the signs at the edges of town.
Additional funds will be used for grant fund matching on community development projects.
Additional events in Alta on this weekend include a Cone Auction and the Alta Firemans Ball.
If you are interested in participating or helping with any of the above events please contact Georgia Weaver 712-200-3123, Paul Hill 712-284-1302 or any member of Team Alta.
Every one is welcome to our next meeting Wednesday, June 16, at 7 a.m. in City Hall. Chamber of Commerce, Utility Board, Industrial Board, Church Boards, Kiwanis, Masons, Red Hat Society and all other groups are personally invited to attend our meetings. We are very interested in working together as a community.
"Volunteers are greatly appreciated and highly valued by our organization - we know you are the hands, feet and heart of the Alta community," said Georgia Weaver, Team Alta President.
