SL Hy-Vee wins company award

The Hy-Vee in Storm Lake has been selected by Hy-Vee, Inc. as a winner in the company's 2004 Springtime Party competition.

The Storm Lake Hy-Vee captured third place in its division in the annual event, held the first weekend of May at all 220 Hy-Vee and Drug Town stores in the Midwest.

Store director Jim Carney received a commemorative plaque and special recognition from Hy-Vee CEO Ric Jurgens during a meeting held last week at Hy-Vee's corporate offices.

Judging teams from Hy-Vee's corporate office tour the stores and rate them on friendliness, enthusiasm, cleanliness, creativity and overall Springtime Party atmosphere.

Johnson retires from BVU centers

Buena Vista University has announced the retirement of Creston and Red Oak Center director Marvin Johnson.

Johnson had been the director of the Creston Center for more than 12 years and of the Red Oak Center since its inception in the fall of 1998.

Wormsley named director of BVU Fort Dodge Center

Dr. Phil Wormsley has been named director of Buena Vista University's Fort Dodge Center.

Wormsley has been serving as the assistant director and education advisor at the Fort Dodge Center for two years.

Wormsley began at the Center as an adjunct in 1993. He holds a Ph.D. in education administration from Drake, a specialist degree in education from the University of Missouri and a master's degree in elementary administration from Northeast Missouri State University.
