Ted Eilders is the new pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta, coming from Orange City where he was teaching at Northwestern College.
The Illinois native, who grew up in the country, enjoys living and working in the rural Pastor Ted knew since he was a youngster that he eventually wanted a career in the ministry. He majored in education, worked for a few years and went on to earn his master of divinity degree. He has worked both as a teacher and a minister over the past 25 years and enjoys the challenges of each field.
"Teaching and the ministry are both helping professions," he commented. "They work well together."
He enjoys many aspects of the ministry. Tops on his list include visiting people, praying with others, sharing communion, preaching and teaching.
Trinity has been without a fulltime pastor for some time and he is ready to accept the challenge of increasing the worship attendance by attracting new members and bringing back some of those members who left during the transitional period.
Pastor Ted feels quit at home at Trinity, serving as supply pastor for the first five months of this year until he received his call to the pulpit. He was installed as pastor on May 16 and is now at home in Alta - glad that the traveling between Orange City and Alta is now over!
"I like Alta," he commented. "This is a nice town."
Please welcome Pastor Ted to the community.
