A snowmobile traveling near the DNR Lake Patrol boat ramp on Storm Lake broke through the ice about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, according to the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.
There were no injuries. The snowmobile had been traveling parallel to the jetty when the sled broke through the ice and was submerged under four feet of water. The driver hopped off and made it to shore on another snowmobile traveling with him. The snowmobile was removed from the lake yesterday morning. The sheriff's department warns that the lake is not completely frozen and there are still open spots of water on the lake.
