An attorney from the Iowa Legal Aid Farm Project will be available on Friday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Buena Vista County Extension Office, 824 Flindt Drive, Storm Lake, to meet with the farmers to provide a free legal consultation.
The Iowa Legal Aid Farm Project provides free legal services to financially eligible farmers for their farm debt problems, disputes with creditors, business contract matters, protection of homesteads and other agricultural legal matters. Farm Project lawyers provide representation in state and federal courts, before the USDA Farm Service Agency (formerly the Farmers Home Administration) and other state and federal agencies, in mandatory farm debtor-creditor mediation under Iowa law, and in general meetings and discussions with creditors.
