Pride of Iowa was held at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Storm Lake recently with 16 4-H'ers participating. Pride of Iowa is a fun way that 4-H'ers may showcase their cooking abilities using products that are produced in Iowa. Iowa products such as beef, pork, eggs, dairy, oatmeal, soybeans, honey, and strawberries were used in this contest.
Pride of Iowa Superintendent, Deb Overgaard emceed the event. Results are as follows: Grand Champion Pork went to Hannah Fordyce from the Maple Valley Agriculturists, Grand Champion Beef went to Stephanie Carlson from the Maple Valley Agriculturists, Grand Champion Diary went to Rachel Culp from the Newell Achievers, Grand Champion Soybean went to Austin Ehlers Newell Boosters, and Grand Champion Eggs was awarded to Chris Sievers from the Fairfield Pioneers. Kateyln Laursen from the Newell Achievers was awarded Grand Champion Junior and Austin Ehlers from the Newell Boosters received Reserve Grand Champion Junior. Hannah Fordyce was named the Grand Champion Intermediate and Chris Sievers received Reserve Grand Champion Intermediate. All 4-H'ers received a participation ribbon along with a certificate from the special commodities listed below. County Pork Producers and the parents of these 4-H'ers for making this an enjoyable afternoon!
