An accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Barton Street and West Milwaukee Avenue. A 1996 Dodge, driven by Jamie Turnquist, 18, Schaller, was eastbound on West Milwaukee Avenue, and was beginning to enter from a two lane to a four lane and moving toward the outside lane. A 1986 Buick, driven by Elda Cortez, 35, Alta, was also eastbound on West Milwaukee Avenue in the inside lane attempting to turn right into a private drive and the vehicles collided. Damages were estimated at $900 to the Turnquist vehicle and $450 to the Cortez vehicle.
An accident happened in the parking lot of the courthouse, on the corner of East 6th Street and Cayuga Street. A 1986 Ward school bus, driven by Mary Granse, 67, Ruthven, was attempting to back up and struck a parked 1996 Ford, owned by Buena Vista County. Damages were estimated at $150 for the Granse vehicle and none to the Buena Vista County vehicle.
On Nov. 25, shortly after 5 p.m., The Pantry in Storm Lake reported the theft of cash, estimated in the amount of $356.02
On Nov. 26, shortly after 12:30 a.m., the east Casey's Storm Lake reported the theft of gas. Estimated value of the gas was $14.99.
