SLPD conducting 'Safety for the Holidays'

Tuesday, December 12, 2000

The Storm Lake Police Department, working in conjunction with police departments from around the country, will be gearing up for the coming holiday season.

In order to ensure Christmas 2000 is the safest on record, the Storm Lake Police Department will increase its vigilance for the impaired driver as well as heighten enforcement of traffic laws.

Storm Lake Police will have additional officers on duty this Saturday, Dec. 16. The officers will be conducting traffic surveys, traffic enforcement and seatbelt compliance checks. This program, entitled "Safety for the Holidays" will be geared to educate the community through information distribution and enforcement about the importance of being extra safe and extra vigilant during the holiday season.

The Storm Lake Police Department encourages everyone to drive safe, slow down, buckle up and have a wonderful holiday season.

If you have any questions on "Safety for the Holidays," don't hesitate to contact Capt. Todd Erskine at 732-8010.
