A Storm Lake Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 700 block of West 9th Street for a traffic offense shortly after 12 a.m. Saturday. On two occasions, the vehicle stopped and then pulled away before finally coming to rest, allowing the officer to make contact with the driver.
The officer determined the name the driver gave was fictitious. The female subject was asked to exit the vehicle but refused and stated she was leaving. When the officer then tried to remove her from the vehicle, she resisted and was subsequently subdued.
The driver, identified as Maria Elena Rivas, 33 of Storm Lake, was charged with Interference with Official Acts, No Driver's License, No Proof of Insurance and Improper Lane Usage.
Rivas was booked into the county jail on $1,081.50 cash bond.
