SL exchange families sought

Tuesday, December 12, 2000

If you have room in your hearts and room in your home, the SHARE! High School Exchange Program is seeking families in Storm Lake and the surrounding areas to host exchange students from around the world for the upcoming spring semester. Exchange students, who arrive in mid-January, live with volunteer host families and attend the local high school for one semester.

"The entire world has been watching the presidential election because people look to the U.S. for leadership. There's no better way to share our American way of life than to share with an exchange student," said Dee Petersen, program coordinator for the nonprofit educational foundation for Storm Lake and the surrounding area. "We have many exchange students from Brazil, Germany, France, Poland and other countries who would love to live with a family in our community," added Petersen.

Since many high schools have enrollment quotas and early deadlines for exchange students, interested Storm Lake region families should call Petersen at 763-476-6515 or the SHARE! national office at 1-800-321-3738 as soon as possible. The Share! Program can also be contacted via the web site at www.erdtshare.org.
