BV women handle Upper Iowa, 70-65
STORM LAKE - Allison Schultz made four free throws in the final 11 seconds to help seal a 70-65 victory for Buena Vista over Upper Iowa Tuesday night at Siebens Fieldhouse.
Buena Vista had to rally in the final 8 minutes of the game to win.
"I just thought we had some real good composure," Buena Vista coach Janet Berry said. "We were down nine points with 8 minutes to go. We just never panicked. We had some good offensive possessions. We only had nine turnovers, so we had really good possessions."
"We had some clutch free throws once we got the lead," Berry added. "Upper Iowa beat Simpson last week and had a week to prepare for us, so to come out with a victory is really great for us."
Kinzee Hanson led Buena Vista with 17 points. Schultz and Jennifer Lange each added 14 points and Jessica Jensen 10. Lange cleared eight rebounds, Sally rezabek six, and Hanson and Schultz had five apiece. Jensen charted five assists and Hanson four.
Buena Vista was 26 of 65 shooting from the field for 40 percent. Upper Iowa was 22 of 45 for 49 percent.
Buena Vista, now 2-3 overall, plays at William Penn and Loras this Friday and Saturday.
