The Alta Athletic Booster Club will sponsor a soup supper this Friday, Dec. 8, in the Alta High School lunchroom prior to the high school girls and boys basketball games with Newell-Fonda.
The Booster Club will be serving chicken noodle soup, vegetable soup, chili, bars, canned pop and bottled water from 5:15-6:30 p.m. Cost is $3.00 with refills on soup costing $1.00.
The newly equipped weight rooms will be open prior to the start of the varsity basketball game for everyone to view. Coaches and students will be available to answer questions and demonstrate the equipment. An incremental weight program has been developed for both the boys and the girls. Students in grades 7-12 can be seen using the weight room.
The 5th and 6th grade boys basketball team will be playing during halftime of the girls game and the high school dance line and drill team will perform during halftime of the boys game.
The Alta Booster Club will also honor their Partners in Education during halftime of the boys basketball game.
The Alta Athletic Booster Club encourages everyone to come out and help kick-off the winter sports season.
The Athletic Booster Club has been able to purchase many items for the athletic programs as a result of community support. Items purchased for the athletic programs include a high jump pit, elastic stretch band speed runner, cardio watch, 10 x 10 canopy, 2 ball carts and net standards for volleyball, Shoot-A-Way for basketball, training cords for track, 7-man blocking sled, metal to build a blocking chute, mats, weights, Pec-Dec machine and mirrors for the weight room.
The goal set by the Booster Club this year is to raise enough money to build a new concession stand at the football field. The proposed site of the new concession stand would be west of the current concession stand.
