AMES - Yet another Iowa State running back has earned first-team all-Big 12 honors. Junior Ennis Haywood was named to The Associated Press first team after leading the league in rushing. Center Ben Bruns also made the first team, although he was listed among the guards and tackles.
Wide receiver J.J. Moses and defensive end Reggie Hayward were chosen for the second team by the panel of sports writers who voted on the players.
This is the fourth time in six years an Iowa State running back has earned first-team all-Big 12 honors. Troy Davis made the first team in 1995 and 1996. His brother, Darren, was a first-team pick last year.
Haywood rushed for 1,237 yards and averaged 5.4 yards a carry in helping Iowa State to an 8-3 record.
He also finished second in the conference in all-purpose running.
Moses was fourth in the league in receiving and third in all-purpose running.
Five Iowa State players received honorable mention: offensive linemen Ben Beaudet and Andy Stensrud, quarterback Sage Rosenfels, defensive tackle James Reed and defensive back Jamarcus Powers.
