BV wrestlers pin Northwestern

STORM LAKE - Buena Vista won the first four matches to take an early 18-point lead and never looked back as it handed Northwestern College a 39-7 setback in a college wrestling match Wednesday at Siebens Fieldhouse.

Buena Vista, now 2-0 in duals, scored 18 straight points at the start. Jamie Taxted won by pin in 1 minute at 133 pounds, while Mark Van Beek won by decision 7-4 at 141. Will Graves then won an 8-3 decision at 149 and Aaron Loewens won by pin in 1:00 at 157 pounds for an 18-0 lead.

The Red Raiders closed to within 18-7 with a pair of wins, but Buena Vista won the final four matches to pull away.

Dave Doebel started the run with a win by pin in 49 seconds at 184 pounds. Storm Lake native B.J. Strandberg won by pin in 1:07 at 197, while Dax Doran won by pin in 2:29 at heavyweight. Brett McDonough closed the match with a 7-1 win at 125.
