Storm Lake man sentenced to federal prison on meth, gun charges

Greg Lynn Barnett, 52, of Storm Lake, was sentenced to prison after previously pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm by a drug user.

The Honorable Donald E. O'Brien, Senior United States District Judge sentenced Barnett on Tuesday in Sioux City to a prison term of 10 years.

At the plea hearing, Barnett admitted that during the course of the conspiracy, he and others distributed over 32 pounds of methamphetamine in the Northern District of Iowa. During the conspiracy, he possessed a .357 caliber revolver.

The case was investigated by the Kossuth County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jamie D. Bowers.
