LPA to host community forum, Freeman to be speaker
The Lake Preservation Association (LPA) and Lake Partners will be hosting a forum on Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Eppley Auditorium on the campus of Buena Vista University. The forum is open to the entire Storm Lake community and information will be held regarding the dredging project and possible fundraising opportunities.
The community forum is a tactic out of Lake Partners "deepening the ties" campaign. Its purpose is to educate the community on the upcoming dredging project of 2001 and gauge public opinion on the matter.
Senator Mary Lou Freeman will be the keynote speaker for the night, focusing on fundraising possibilities for further dredging while several other major figures will field questions regarding lake conditions, the positives and negatives of dredging and the impact on the Storm Lake community. Lake Partners will administer a survey to ultimately determine public opinion on the dredging issue.
The Lake Preservation Association is a charitable, tax-exempt organization formed over 10 years ago to ensure preservation of Storm Lake and its watershed.
