Senate Majority Leader Stewart Iverson announced Friday that Senator Mary Lou Freeman of Alta has been appointed to the Chair of the Senate Business and Labor Committee.
"Senator Freeman has shown tremendous insight in the area of business and labor, and I am pleased to entrust the committee to her leadership," Senator Iverson said. "I asked Senator Freeman to chair this committee because I knew she would encourage business growth in Iowa while protecting the needs of our labor force."
"I am honored to accept the chair position for the Business and Labor Committee," Senator Freeman said. "I am anxious to begin working on the important issues that will come before the committee and I will work to move forward on the issues important to Iowa." The committee members will begin meeting in December, prior to the start of session.
Senator Freeman is also a member of the Commerce, Transportation and Natural Resources standing committees, and serves on the Oversight appropriations subcommittee. Senator Freeman is serving her second term in the Iowa Senate.
