Initiated by the Storm Lake Area Arts Council this year, the B.V. County Chorale started out with the idea of county singers getting together to sing for the fun of it.
Auditions were not required. While fun is still a major component, the 55 adult singers are beginning to see that with a little bit of work, Jeff Tollefson will mold their effort into some of the nicest music they've ever done. On Sunday December 10, the public will have a chance to listen to the group as they perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. at Schaller Chapel.
The chorale consists of veterans and rookies alike. Sopranos like Brenda Samuelson and Terry Benson have starred in musicals. Al and Kathy Buckingham have been singing together for events and weddings for years.
All the altos want to sit by Jeannie Lullman, one of the SLHS "ringers." Tollefson has tried to include singers who are familiar with the pieces. LaVonne Hoffman, for one, will not need a lot of special direction from Jeff as she was his music instructor at BVU.
