The Alta girls track and field team took third place here Tuesday in the A Division of its own Invitational.
Ar-We-Va won with 143 points to 106 for Hinton, and 100 for Alta. Schaller-Crestland took fifth with 46 points while Newell-Fonda took sixth with 44 points.
Versatile Alta athlete Deidre Hinkeldey continued to shine, taking first in the open 800 meter run with a meet record time of 2 minutes, 25.45 seconds.
She added a second in the 100 meter dash in 12.87 seconds and a second in the 200 meter dash in 26.88 seconds.
Alta runner Brianna Aube helped the Cyclones' cause with a first in the 3,000 meter run in 13 minutes even.
In addition for Alta, S. Rydstrom was second in the 400 meter dash (1:12.70) while Liza Lichtenberg was second in the 400 meter low hurdles in 1:19.80. Also, Elissa Stevens was third in the 400 low hurdles in 1:20.70.
Schaller-Crestland won both the 4x200 (1:54.30) and the sprint medley relay (1:58.34). The Wildcats were also third in the distance medley in 4:41.50.
Newell-Fonda's Andrea Larsen led the Mustangs with firsts in both the shot put (33-1) and the discus (101-4).
Alta's Trisha Miller was second in the shot (30-7) and third in the discus (82-4).
