The Storm Lake High boys track and field team took second place here Tuesday afternoon in the Prairie Valley Gowrie Warrior Invitational.
Roland Story won the meet with 99 points to 87 for the Tornado boys and 73.5 for Webster City. Humboldt (49 points), Eagle Grove (38) and Manson (36 points) were the last three team finishers.
The Tornado boys took first in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Nick Sorbe, Matt Adams, Alex Kwikkel and Mike Keller finished in 3 minutes, 32.90 seconds.
Taking individual first places were Keller in the long jump (19 feet, 1.25 inches), Logan Masters in the 110 high hurdles (15.39 seconds, a personal best), Keller in the 200 meter dash (22.83 seconds), and Nick Sorbe in the 400 meter dash (50.36, a personal best).
Logan Masters added an individual second place in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 58.17 seconds. The 4x100 relay team of Lamthong Sounnarath, Derrick Randall, Tyson Brandt and Keller was second in 45.77 seconds.
Taking thirds were: Brett Miller in the 3200 meter run (10:54.98, a personal best), Daniel Higgins in the 200 meter dash (23.89 seconds, a personal best), the 4x200 relay team of Sounnarath, Kwikkel, Randall and Keller (1:37.30), and Kevin Wulfekuhler in the 800 meter run (2:09.36).
Taking fourths for the Storm Lake boys were Brandt in the long jump (17-11.25), Sounnarath in the 100 meter dash (11.85 seconds, a personal best), and the 1600 medley relay team of Lance Eddie, Colt Cook, Jimmy Steward and Adam Sorbe (3:59.10).
Adam Kelly added a fifth place in the 800 meters (2:12.92), while Miller was sixth in the 1600 meter run in 5:12.67.
