Sugar Bowl to open clearance, sale store

Thursday, April 15, 2004

Storm Lake will soon have a bargain gift store when the Sugar Bowl opens its discount outlet at 521 Michigan Ave.

The store, Sugar Bowl, Too, is slated to open on May 1, Sugar Bowl's Mike Kohler said.

"We will be offering clearance items from the Sugar Bowl as well as new manufacturers' close outs," Kohler said. "We are going to be able to offer our customers 'deep' discounts."

Kohler said that the new store would be a "great, fun place for the bargain hunter."

"This will be a great place for treasure seekers to come and find great merchandise at very low prices," he said. "We will offer similar items that we have at the Sugar Bowl, gifts, seasonal items at discount prices, home decor, paper items and collectables."

Kohler said he expects the turnover of items to be steady.

"We will be buying items on a regular basis and will keep things moving through the store on a regular basis," he said. "There will always be something new."

Kohler said that the store would be open noon to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

"We have been very happy with the downtown business and are eager to expand." Kohler said. "Especially into such a beautiful building. We will be playing this by ear and may expand the store's schedule if the demand is there."

The store will be located next to Thrivent and behind The Cutting edge, Kohler said.
