Thursday, March 25, 2004

Sara Lee's occupational health nurse Elaine Schoening, RN, has been given the Marguerite Ahern Graff Excellence Award by the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses (ABOHN).

The award is given each year to the COHN who receives the highest score on the certification exam in the previous year. This award was established in 1997 to honor ABOHN's first chair, Marguerite Ahern Graf.

Schoening's responsibilities include maintaining healthy workplace conditions, assessing and treating occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries, and maintaining medical/nursing policies consistent with company goals. Elaine is currently certified in occupational hearing conservation, a DOT specimen collector, a breath alcohol technician and spirometry testing.
