The search is on for the first Water Quality Coordinator for the Storm Lake watershed.
The new position was recently funded by a grant through the Environmental Protection Agency and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
Applicants are being sought by the Buena Vista County Soil & Water Conservation District through April 10, with evaluation to begin soon afterward.
The person hired will manage and coordinate implementation of water quality conservation projects, conservation planning, education and other efforts as deemed necessary by the USDA.
The position will deal with issues such as sedimentation, water pollution, pesticides, livestock waste and other issues that affect local water quality.
Applicants are being asked to have at least a bachelor's degree with studies in ag engineering, ag education, animal ecology, environmental science and conservation and/or biology. They should have one to three years of experience and a record of accomplishment in environmental work.
