Folks who want to learn the answers to those vexing questions about buying a home should plan to attend the Homebuyer's Workshop in April at Iowa Central Community College in Storm Lake.
The workshop series are being sponsored by a group of area businesses in collaboration with USDA-Rural Development and Iowa State University Extension. Rural Development assists rural Americans from working families to seniors seeking to be homeowners.
ISUE field specialists have collaborated with a variety of local coalitions to offer home ownership workshops. Funding for the workshops was provided in party by IHOEP (Iowa Home Ownership Education Project). IHOEP is an alliance of organizations committed to establishing a statewide homeownership education and counseling initiative.
ISU will conduct the three evening sessions, beginning on April 8 from 6 to 9. The second and third sessions are April 15 from 6 to 9, and April 22 from 6 to 8.
There is a registration fee of $20 and registration deadline is March 25.
The classes are designed to explain the entire process of financing a home from completing an application to receiving the keys.
Many lenders require homebuyers to complete this type of workshop prior to completing a financing package.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the last workshop that will meet the requirements and put them a step ahead when they visit with a lender.
