Harvey and company are coming to the Church of Christ in Alta and all kids kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to come and visit.
Harvey and company are part of the new program - SKITuations. To carry out this program requires the talent and commitment from many members of the church and that hasn't been a problem, said Jackie Bender. In a letter to the congregation, some 30 members volunteered to help out in different capacities.
The six-week program which will consist of skits, Bible stories, snacks and activities will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:45 p.m. March 3-April 7.
The pre-written SKITuations enact everyday situations that kids today might face. A different parable will be presented each week. Members of the church - mostly adult members - will dress up in clothing similar to Biblical wear to present these messages. An additional skit - portraying Harvey and his friends, all children - will be presented each night with a different group of actors.
The committed members have been rehearsing their lines and are nearly ready to get up in front of an audience. "There is a lot of talent here and they are willing to step forward to help us out," said Jackie, who has been serving as the director. The adult actors are having a good time being transformed into children, and she said, it has been fun to see the costumes they come up with to go along with their characters.
"We are always trying to reach the community and draw people into the church," said Jackie. Kids need role models and we decided we wanted our own adults to be a part of that. And it's good that the adults can connect with the kids that way, too."
Parents are invited to come in and watch the performances if they wish.
Preregistration is requested, but no one will be turned away if they have not preregistered. Call the church at 200-3221 or Jackie at 200-3094. There is no cost.
