St. Mary's, which finished 3-19 a year ago, returns three starters in forwards Jill Kestel and Megan Kestel, and guard Peggy Ploeger. They averaged 7.9, 8.2 and 5.0 points a game, respectively.
Jen Petersen, Bri Barber, Angie Laven, Kassie Drey and Steph Raulie will be top prospects to contribute.
Berg weighed the Panthers' strengths and concerns.
"Our post play and our quickness will be strengths," he said. "We have players with varsity experience."
"Our outside shooting has improved, but we will have to prove we can be consistent," Berg added. "Our newcomers are going to have to prove they can play at this level."
Berg assessed how his club will be offensively and defensively.
