Final plans set for Ag & Home Show

Tuesday, January 27, 2004

Plan to attend the Buena Vista County Ag and Home Show set for January 31, sponsored by the Storm Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Area ag products and home improvement ideas will all be displayed under one roof. Over 70 related exhibitors will be on hand to showcase their products and services to meet your farm and home needs. The admission is free to the public. A total of $100 in Storm Lake Bucks will be given away as door prizes at the end of the day. Visitors need not be present to win.

A new feature this year is a miniature golf course throughout the show floor. The Hy-Noon Kiwanis and the vendors have teamed up to provide this special activity. Collect a score card at the front desk, and golf your way through the show. Turn in your card when finished, and qualify to win part of the $100 in Storm Lake Bucks awarded for participating.

Dr. Elwynn Taylor, renowned agricultural meteorologist and extension climatologist from Iowa State University, is the featured speaker at this year's show. Dr. Taylor holds a doctorate in Biology from Washington University, and serves as a consultant to state and national planning and climate response committees. He will be discussing long-term weather variability. Those concerned with climate associated risks will benefit from his clear and humorous explanations. Dr. Taylor speaks at 2 p.m.

Molly Wilson, owner of the Sugar Bowl Gift Shop of Storm Lake, will be presenting "Entertaining with Pizzazz, from Appetizers to Zinfandel." The presentation will include a how-to on party planning including party themes, decorating on a budget, centerpieces and creative napkin folding. Each person who attends will receive a gift to inspire their own creativity. Audience participation is encouraged. It will be a fun, hands-on program with lots of demonstrating! Wilson is speaking at 10 a.m.
