Funeral homes respond to needs of diverse community
Responding to a need it says is increasing in the area, a partnership of Storm Lake and Sac City funeral directors are building a crematorium in Storm Lake on Expansion Boulevard.
Shannon Asmus of Sliefert Asmus Funeral Home said that that there are a variety of reasons for building the crematorium, but over the last few years more and more families have been asking "for cremation as the final disposition of the loved ones."
"Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home, Sliefert Asmus Funeral Home, both of Storm Lake, and Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Sac City formed the the partnership because we want to provide all services for everyone," Asmus said. "We now live in a community where there are many different cultures and we want to be responsive to all of our community."
Nathan Jensen of the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home said that the three funeral homes will be able to provide a service that otherwise could not have been provided by a single funeral home.
"We want everyone to know that at all times all of the homes' professional staff will see every detail through from beginning to end," Jensen said. "We want everyone to know that at all times there will be qualified professional staff to care for the loved ones of Buena Vista and Sac Counties."
Jensen and Asmus said the crematorium should be complete by the end of this month and in operation in February.
