Jodi Nielsen and Lee Birch were united in marriage in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Dubuque.

Parents of the couple are Earl and Joyce Nielsen of Alta and Jim and Laurie Birch of Dubuque.

The matron of honor was Michelle Bequeaith of Ankeny, friend of the bride. The best man was Chris Birch, brother of the groom from Marshalltown. The brothers of the bride, Jeff and Jon Nielsen, were the ushers.

A reception and dance was held following the ceremony at Bittersweet on the Bluff in East Dubuque, Ill..

An open house reception for the couple was held at the Alta Community Center on Sunday, Oct. 1 for friends and family who were unable to attend the wedding in Dubuque. Brad and Cindy Pedersen and Jim and Amy Meyer, both of Alta, were the reception coordinators.

The groom is employed at Maytag in Newton as a designer in the research and development department. The bride is employed at Seabury & Smith in West Des Moines as a staff accountant in the financial accounting department.

Following a honeymoon trip to Vermont, the couple is residing in Urbandale.
