Taste test on red, green ketchup helps promote 'Jammin' With JAG'

Thursday, November 9, 2000

On Wednesday during the student lunch shifts, the I-JAG students of Storm Lake High School were conducting blind taste tests between Heinz red and new green ketchups.

This activity is promoting the upcoming "Jammin' With JAG," a radio program produced by and for students to be aired Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. over KAYL. Included in the program will be interviews with local businesses promoting popular products and available jobs, commercials from a variety of local businesses, the Top Ten Hit List from SLHS and trivia questions with prizes for correct answers. The corporate sponsors for this show are KAYL, Iowa Central Community College and Buena Vista University.

You may ask what does this have to do with red and green ketchup? Good question. Local I-JAG supporter Brian Baumhover of Fareway donated the green ketchup as one of the prizes, and used it as a marketing tool. Select students and staff tested both the red and green ketchup with the rest of the students sampling the product next Wednesday during lunch. I-JAG students are also collecting donations to select the Top Ten Hits to be aired during "Jammin' With JAG."
