A show of paintings by Karen Chesterman is currently on display at the Buena Vista University Art Gallery.
Chesterman's work has been exhibited throughout the Midwest in many one-person as well as competitive shows. She has won numerous awards for painting and has been represented in many collections.
Influenced by the Abstract Expressionism movement of the 1950s, Chesterman pursues discovery through the process of painting. The nuances of color and texture characterize her contemporary abstract paint-ings. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Morningside College, a bachelor of arts degree from Briar Cliff College and a master of fine arts degree from the University of South Dakota.
The display of Chesterman's paintings will continue at the BVU Art Gallery until Dec. 1.
