Clydesdales, orchestra, 'Sugarettes' add to fun

The annual Miracle On Lake Avenue clebration comes to life Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m., with a Parade of Lights, shop windows filled with celebration, plenty of food and treats, music, and even a live nativity.

Bruce Kurtz will serve as emcee for the parade, and will anounce the winners of the float contest. The parade begins at 6, led by the winner of the first Storm Lake Scrooge contest.

The parade will feature a group of Clydesdale horses provided by John Landgraft and sponsored by Buena Vista University, as well as a Boy Scout patriotic salute. Several floats will be included, with entries by Paxtons Jewelry, Fitzpatrick's Auto Center, KAYL/KKIA: The Moose, Up & Down Overhead Door Service, S & P Trail Rides, Lakeshore Cafe, Ressler Drug, First Federal Savings Bank of the Midwest, Storm Lake High School Key Club, Midwest Wireless, and St John's and Grace Lutheran Churches.

Santa will be strolling the sidewalks and businesses to meet children, and an array of tasty treats will be sold on the sidewalk, from caremel apples to cocoa to bake sale items.

The Elks Lodge chili supper starts at 5 p.m., with tickets at $3 for adults and $1.50 for children.

Witter Gallery hosts a Wassail Party starting at 7:30, with a performance by the A Touch of Broadway group.

Santa's Castle will be open from 6-8 p.m.

There will be a live nativity scene including animals at the Citizens Bank drive-through area after the parade.
