CLEGHORN - A man who police say stabbed his girlfriend was arrested following a standoff at a home in the northwest Iowa town.
Grant Wilson, 42, was arrested for domestic assault, willful injury and assault on a police officer.
Police were called to the home, about 40 miles northeast of Sioux City, about 7 p.m. Saturday after receiving a call that a woman had been stabbed.
"The information that we received was that we had a male subject in the house who had already stabbed a female subject and that there was another man in the house who was threatening to kill any law enforcement who came near and everybody if law enforcement came near," Cherokee County Sheriff Dave Scott said.
Scott said there was a hostage situation for about an hour. The Iowa State Patrol Swat team assisted at the scene.
A woman came out of the house and was taken to a hospital where she was treated for a wound to the back of her head and released.
A second man came out of the house and was handcuffed until it was determined he was not involved in the incident, Scott said.
Police then went into the home and arrested Wilson, the sheriff said.
