Mr. & Mrs. Meshack Sambu

Melissa Ann Madsen, of Mankato, Minnesota and Meshack Kirwa Sambu of Mankato, Minnesota were united in marriage on May 24, 2003. The marriage ceremony was preformed by Pastor Lilette Johnston at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta. Parents of the bride are Michael and Leigh Madsen of Alta. Parents of the groom, John and Rhoda Sambu of Eldoret, Kenya were pleased to be able to attend. Meshack's brother Felix of Eldoret, Kenya was also able to attend.

The bride was escorted down the isle by her father. Melissa wore a satin gown trimmed with re-embroidered lace with a cathedral train.

Maid of Honor was Ashley Madsen of Cedar Falls, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Kay Madison, Sioux Falls; Nicole Flink, Ames; Erin Burback, DeWitt; Randy Napier, Dallas; all friends of the bride. Flower girl was Brittney Fagerlee, of Excelsior, Minnesota, cousin of the bride.

The Best Man was Alex Turn of Silver Springs, Maryland, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were Duncan Langat, friend of the groom, Shadraek Sambu, twin brother of the groom, Isaac Misoi, friend of the groom, and Job Tuwei, friend of the groom. Ring bearer was Beau Fagerlee, cousin of the bride. Personal attendants were J.J. Launderville and Brandi Lohse, friends of the bride.

The guests were ushered by Adam Nielsen, Ames, and Jon Nielsen, Storm Lake, cousins of the bride, Ryan O'Hern, Eagle Grove, cousin of the bride and Henry Terer, Minneapolis, friend of the groom.

Acolytes were Tyler Glienke and Christopher Glienke, Alta, cousins of the bride. Sitting at the guest book was Jackline Sambu, sister of the groom, and Breann O'Hern, cousin of the bride.

Soloist Justin Walsh sang Time to Light the Candle, accompanied by organist Rhonda Christensen, while the mothers lit the candles. Justin also sang The Wedding Prayer and The Lord's Prayer. Beth Wienhold read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

Following the ceremony the dinner and dance was held at the Alta Community Center. It was hosted by Peter and Cindy Nielsen, Alta and Rick and Shelley Glienke, Alta, aunts and uncles of the bride. Following the dinner the groom's family presented the bride's family with gifts from Kenya through a traditional Kenyan dance.

Mr. & Mrs. Meshack Sambu reside in Urbandale.
