First Federal Savings Bank of the Midwest held its sixth-annual charity cookout to thank customers for their business and raise money for a local charity. The event was held Sept. 25 at First Federal.

Attendance was estimated at more than 430.

Buena Vista County Pork Producers grilled pork burgers, served with chips, ice cream, and beverages for a $2 or more per plate donation.

First Federal's event raised $1,389, which was donated to the Storm Lake Community Chest to kick off their fall fundraising campaign.

Gladwyn Langner of Storm Lake won four tickets on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad Steam Train and two nights stay in Boone at the Amerihost Inn. Marcella Radke of Storm Lake won two tickets to the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, compliments of KAYL. Becky Brighton of Storm Lake and Marvin Goldsmith of Storm Lake won a premium gift card compliments of First Federal.

"We extend our appreciation to the businesses that contributed items for the pork feed: Buena Vista Stationery & Printing, Burger King, Chesterman Company, Fareway, Griller's Choice, and Wells Blue Bunny," Ben Guenther, Storm Lake division president, said. "First Federal is proud to continue this fund-raising event and support our local community and the Community Chest."
