Sioux Central begins to discuss plans to build new track, football field, auditorium

Thursday, November 2, 2000

The development plan came about recently with the proposal for a new storage shed.

"I wanted to make sure that the storage shed would not be in the way of any future plans," Meier said.

The small storage shed will be built on the north side of the school building.

"Right now, staff members are looking at the plans," Meier said. "We're in the developing stage and at this point we don't know how this will be paid for."

Meier said the Booster Club has already given a $5,000 start toward the athletic field.

Meier believes the Local Arts Comprehensive Educational Strategies (LACES) organ-ization will continue to promote the fine arts in the hopes of a new auditorium.

"If anyone would like to make donations to the Foundation and designate either the auditorium, the football field or the track, they would be very welcome," Meier said.

The school is also discussing the purchase of new lockers and home side bleachers with the athletic development.

"We'll have a board retreat in a couple of months that will determine what direction we choose to pursue," Meier said. "I'll move in whatever direction they want me to."
