Young artists from Storm Lake public schools were honored at a reception on Sept. 13 for their outstanding two-dimensional works selected in May for the Summer and Fall Central Art Show.
Elementary student works included second graders Christian Andrade, Alfredo Delacruz, Bradley Funk and Stacey Stark. Third grade artists were Bennett Koch and Jeff Updike. Fourth grade works were by Joshua Beach and James Simmons. Fifth grade artists were Jeremy Boese and Daisy Cortez.
Middle School art works selected for the Summer and Fall Central Arts Show included tempera paintings by sixth graders Casey Hildreth and Katrishia Koh and a construction paper design by seventh grader Phouvang Sihkoun. Other works included black marker line designs by eighth graders Lance Eddie and Ben Thompson, along with pencil portraits by ninth graders Josh Randolph and David Steward.
Storm Lake High School student works included acrylic paintings by sophomores Veronica Arambula and Josh Jordan, an oil pasted by junior Jenny Johnson, photographs by seniors Heather Jackson, Haydee Nunez and J.J. Waldner, a calligraphy print by sophomore Erin Taphorn and a computer graphic design by senior Eric Boulammavong.
The artists, their families and the Storm Lake School Board attended the recognition reception to honor art student achievements. The Summer and Fall Central Art Show can be viewed by the public during regular business hours at the Central Administration Building at 419 Lake Avenue in Storm Lake. These works will remain on display through November.
