Buena Vista runners finish fourth in Iowa Conference meet

WAVERLY - Greg Bell finished 10th overall and Phillip Keys was 16th to help Buena Vista place fourth in the Iowa Conference men's cross country meet held on Saturday.

Wartburg was the team winner with 29 points. The Beavers scored 113.

Bell posted a time of 26 minutes, 58 seconds, while Keys ran a time of 27:20.

Joe Ward was 24th in 27:36, Tim Hanson 31st in 27:58 and Ryan Moenck 32nd in 28:05.

Brett Sealine placed 51st with a time of 29:53 and Craig Zeise was 56th in 30:21.

Buena Vista finished seventh in the women's meet with 205 points. Luther was the team champion with 38 points.

Erin Hoffman paced the Beavers, finishing 28th with a time of 20:39. Susan Brenteson was 38th in 21:11, Katie Berger 41st in 21:34, Kelly McClure 42nd in 21:38 and Faye Delaney 56th in 24:13.


Buena Vista finished third in the Iowa Conference tournament as it defeated Loras 2-1 on Saturday.

Elvir Alicic scored both of Buena Vista's goals and Damir Andrasi charted six saves as goalkeeper. Buena Vista had 11 shots on goal.

Buena Vista lost to No. 1 seed Simpson 4-0 in the semifinals. The Beavers had seven shots on goal and Andrasi recorded two goalkeeper saves.

Buena Vista finishes its season 12-8 overall.


Buena Vista dropped an Iowa Conference match to the University of Dubuque 15-2, 15-7, 15-8 last week.
