Updates from the Storm Lake Police Department and the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office.


On Oct. 15, Allyson Munger, 714 Seneca Street, Storm Lake, reported that sometime between 2 and 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 14, her vehicle had been stolen from her residence and then was involved in an accident before being returned to her residence. The vehicle, valued at $2,000, received $800 damage to the right side. It was unknown where the accident occurred or who the driver was.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 19, an accident occurred in the 600 block of Maywood Drive. A 1989 Ford, owned by Michelle Carbaugh, 1600 Rose Lane, Storm Lake, was parked on Maywood Drive. A 1995 Ford bus, owned by the Regional Transport Authority, Spencer, and driven by Raymond Steffen, 60, Albert City, was backing from a private drive and struck the Carbaugh vehicle. There was $1,200 damage to the Carbaugh vehicle and none to the bus.


Lori Calnon, 1205 West 4th Street, Storm Lake, reported the theft of a large pumpkin from the front step of her residence on Thursday. Value of the pumpkin was $10.
