Rufus Peper

Rufus Christian, the son of John and Ida (Zein) Peper, was born Dec. 20, 1906 in Sac County. Following graduation from high school, he completed one year of college.

He joined the United States Army Air Force in May of 1942. He attained the rank of Sergeant, serving as a motor vehicle dispatcher until November of 1945. As a decorated veteran, he received the Victory medal, American Theater ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater ribbon, four Overseas Service bars, one Service stripe and a Good Conduct medal.

He married Etoyle (Meyers) Jones in June of 1969. Mr. Peper was employed by Wisconsin Lumber Company for many years before moving to the Buena Vista Manor on Jan. 21, 1988.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in November of 1986; one step-daughter, Betty; his twin brother Raymond; two brothers: Elmer and Arnold and two sisters: Edna and Lurena.

Mr. Peper is survived by one step-daughter Bonnie Manchak of Indiana; many nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
