Library youth programs begin

Book Babies will be on Saturday, September 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Storm Lake Public Library. Babies, toddlers under three, along with their parents and older siblings will enjoy stories on lions and lambs. The toddler craft will be a lion or lamb cupcake. This program is free.

* The new academic year of homeschool programs at the Storm Lake Public Library begins on Tuesday, September 9, 2:30 p.m. with an exploration on Benjamin Franklin.

* Preschool Story Time will be on every Tuesday and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. at the Storm Lake Public Library. This is an interactive thirty-minute children's program for those between the ages of three and five. This program is free. Bonsai art in workshop

Storm Laker Tom Tomford is an expert in the ancient art of bonsai, a Japanese word meaning small or potted tree. Tom is offering, "Learning the Way of Bonsai" on Saturday, September 20, from l-3 p.m.. Tom invites participants to his bonsai garden as an introduction to the history and culture techniques related to bonsai. Registration deadline is September 17. A registration fee is $10 to CommUnity Education.

Aurelia plans homecoming

Homecoming is September 26 for Aurelia High School, with the game featuring the Bulldogs vs. the Ar-We-Va Rockets, and a dance for the high school students following. Students will be decorating store windows, and the homecoming parade is Thursday, Sept. 25, starting at 6:30 p.m. with the community pep rally and crowning of royalty to follow.
