HOLSTEIN - Darci Vohs showed why she is one of the premier hitters in all of northwest Iowa.
The Galva-Holstein junior, who stands over 6 feet tall, charted 24 kills to help ninth-ranked Galva-Holstein win a district championship with a 15-9, 15-12, 15-4 victory over Westwood on Monday night at Holstein.
Galva-Holstein, now 32-2-2 overall, played IKM (21-4-4) on Wednesday night in a regional quarterfinal match at Holstein. The winner advances to the semifinals next Monday night.
Galva-Holstein had 53 kills in the match and Vohs had 24 of them. Kris Beyer added 12, Shelley Cronin eight, Taneal Jepsen five and Stacy Friedrichsen two.
The Pirates were 88-for-109 hitting as a team.
Galva-Holstein was 84-for-97 in serving for 86.6 percent. Cronin had five ace serves, Vohs two and Beyer one. Friedrichsen tallied 46 set assists.
Defensively, the Pirates charted 68 digs and 10 blocks. Cronin had 19 digs, Friedrichsen and Vohs 11 each, Jepsen 10 and Beyer eight.
Beyer recorded three blocks and Vohs added two.
