Crampton selected as Coast Guard Class Honor Student

Tuesday, August 26, 2003

John P. Crampton was selected as the Class Honor Student of his graduating class from the Health Services Technician School a the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center in Petaluma, Cali.

John, a 2001 graduate of Storm Lake High School, was the number one student out of the 30 accepted into the pre-med program.

"It was very rewarding," he said, adding that he worked hard for the award, but did not know he had achieved it until graduation day. "I kept asking my advisor how I was doing, and he just said, 'you're doing all right, Crampton. You're doing all right.'"

John is now working in New Orleans as a corpsman for the Coast Guard, seeing patients on sick call and taking classes at the university. After he receives his degree, John plans to attend medical school in Iowa.
